Skokie Egalitarian Minyan
The Skokie Egalitarian Minyan is an alternative service attended by synagogue
members of all ages: singles, couples, families, teens and seniors. The Minyan is
an intimate, traditional service, committed to egalitarian and participatory
worship. The Minyan has been in existence since 1994, and joined
Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation in 2008. Run
completely by lay people, the Minyan meets on the 1st and 3rd Shabbat of every
month and holidays.

Although it is not officially a "learner's minyan", guidance and encouragement is
provided to participants still developing their synagogue skills. A "Kids
Kommunity" is available with supervision for young children.

On those days when the Minyan meets, there are two wonderful services at
Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation - our dynamic rabbi-led
service, or the Skokie Egalitarian Minyan. Both are terrific options for you to
consider. Our world famous cantor, when in town, co-leads the main sanctuary
service with the rabbi. Both services end at the same time, which allows the
entire synagogue community to be together for kiddush.
