Bet, Gimmel and Dalet Class Recap for February 13, 2016

Sun, 02/28/2016 - 9:56pm -- Religious School

We had a great day today in class. We began with Havdalah and the students showed that they are mastering this ritual. We did the Brachot for the wine, candle and the spices. Afterwards, we briefly recapped the significance of everything we do during this ritual. After this, we retired to our classroom for snack and we did the Brachot for oranges, wheat and dessert foods.

Around 5:10, we met Rabbi Weill in our classroom to review Maariv. We worked on a few prayers but the primary prayer we focused on was the Kiddush for Friday nights which is on page 258 of the Maariv siddur. Around 5:30 we read about what Shalom was and what it meant to the Jewish people. We read anecdotes about great figures in Jewish history such as Aaron and Hillel and how they tried to spread shalom and shalom bayit.

Lastly, around 5:55, we played a game of Bingo with different Hebrew words from our T’filot. Therefore the kids were able to end the day having fun but also
demonstrate that they could identify difficult words from Hebrew and
religious texts.
