In class today we switched things up. Rabbi Weill, our guide in teaching Maariv was unable to make it to our class today so we reviewed the service on
our own. We made a bit of a game out of it by allowing the kids to use
instruments and even trying to get them to harmonize some of the
different t’filot. We tried to give the service a bit of a different flavor today and the kids responded positively.
After, we had our snack, we then learned numbers in Hebrew,
1-100. We practiced reading the Hebrew words for the numbers and tried
to figure out the pattern. Once the kids felt confident with their
ability to recognize and recall numbers in Hebrew we played a game of
bingo where the "Barker" would say the Hebrew number and then they needed to locate the corresponding digit.
Finally, we read the story of creation from our book, The Rabbis Bible.
Afterwards, each student was tasked with taking one day from the story,
they were tasked with making a creative representation (drawing a
picture, making a poem, etc.)
